JOAN SPAULDING COBB

Joan Spaulding Cobb (1927–2022) was a sculptor in wood. Her work has been exhibited in New York and New England, most recently at the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine. 

 

After beginning her studies with William Zorach and Kenneth Hayes Miller at the Art Students League of New York, Joan attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and studied design with Gyorgy Kepes at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She returned to New York to study sculpture with Oronzio Maldarelli at Columbia University and later earned a B.A., Phi Beta Kappa, from Columbia. She taught art at the Shady Hill School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the Potomac School in Washington, D.C., where she served as head of the art department.
